Do you place bets or gamble for a living?

Me: I personally don’t.

I found this topic very compelling throughout the years as I was growing up. At one point I thought this was the path I’d love to take. It wasn’t shortly after that my dreams were crushed by a small time casino. I learned my lesson quick and easy I’d say. (Total Loss: $5,000) while in college. When people ask me if it’s possible to make a living betting on sports, I ask them how much they need to live. Even after they tell me the amount I still don’t believe them. If you plan on having a family, supporting that family on gambling winnings is really a bad idea in my opinion. I don’t ever recommend this at all.

Are You thinking about this?

If you are you have better have a liquid bankroll to start off. I also hope you have a lot of good insider info if you even want to attempt something like this.

If you are against the stock market you should be against this too!

Playing the stock market is pretty much like sports betting – it’s all about getting the right information to enable to you get a positive edge. Remember, getting this so called right information takes years of practice and trial and error. Unless you’re day-trading, it’s a lot more of a long-term proposition though. In fact, investing forums are quite similar to betting forums. People thinking they’re the next Warren Buffett due to a single good deal, people trying to blame “the market” for their unprofitable picks, people jumping in on the recommendations of touts and tipsters etc.

I actually know of several people who do gamble for a living.

Handicapping and understanding the very basic values for points is very important but I think in order to actually earn a complete living, most also have to take advantage of any edges possible.

Edges: I.E

- a “Hot Tip”

- Whatever Bonus

- Finding slow lines (lines people aren’t too focused on)

- Working with a Team

- Work on self control

- Stay away from any type of parlay bets

What if you “think” you are already making enough to live?

Even if you “think” you are doing well now, I still believe it is necessary to have some sort of steady income just so you can keep supporting this habit. No one has a perfect winning streak. We all have had our “losing streaks”. This need to be very long term goal and hopefully you will win more than you lose.

I think Handicapping can be tough!

I think handicapping is a real tough task to master (is mastering it even possible?). Throughout the past years I’ve witnessed many players who are on their own get burnt out. It could be just 1 big loss or consecutive losses. I’ve seen people liquidate their Rolex watches for a few hundred bucks thinking they will Triple their money in one hour. It gets worst.

My Conclusion

In conclusion, I’m sure there are very successful people in this world who are doing this and doing it well. I personally think it’s like any type of work….if you work hard at it, it’ll eventually pay off (when do you know to call it quits?) but I still wouldn’t choose this path (LOL)! I don’t recommend anyone choose this path. I think a more conservative and moderate path would be wiser. Focus on opening up a business if you have a nice bankroll.

I hope you enjoyed reading this. If you did please feel free to share this on your facebook, twitter, stumble, or google+ I’d appreciate it!

A personal interview with the Silver Lotto System’s creator, Ken Silver.

Q: Hi Ken, thanks for joining us in this interview. Before we talk about your lotto system, tell us a little about your background.

Ken: It really all started with the lotto system. I first developed the Silver Lotto System in the early 90′s, and it sold really well through direct mail. After a couple of years success with it I wrote a “how-to” manual about my experience and how others could do it–which also sold well. In fact you can still buy it today. Then I went on to sell it over the internet in the mid-90′s and sales increased massively. I wrote another, “eBook Secrets” about writing How-To ebooks, and together my manuals have sold over a million copies from myself and other marketers who bought the limited number of Rights.

Q: Tell us how you developed your special lotto system.

Ken: Well, for several years in the late 80′s I had been looking for ways to turn the lottery to my advantage, and I studied a lot of material. It was an interesting period. You wouldn’t believe the weird, off the wall theories out there. I even read one book that claimed several thousand people could ‘will’ the numbers they wanted through mass ESP – Extra Sensory Perception.

Q: Strange solutions indeed. How did you figure out your own system then?

Ken: Through a lot of hard thought and lateral thinking. It helped that my late father was a brilliant optical engineer, and some of his analytical mathematical abilities might have rubbed off me! When I found the “eureka” solution that seemed to work, I spent a further couple of years researching and checking it. Although at that time I had computers that might have sped the whole research process up, the Silver Lotto System doesn’t actually work on patterned or computed numbers. So it had to be done by hand. Took a while.

Q: Why is your system so different that you couldn’t use a computer?

Ken: I found that despite the blinding speed and computational abilities of modern systems even back then, no-one had actually come up with a way to predict a win from past draws. This was the breakthrough for me. It simply told me this: That no-one can actually predict winning numbers through analyzing and extrapolating past results. And when I realized this, it made my own system solution much more valuable as a result. So, although it took a while to figure out, suddenly I had found the ‘missing link’ to winning lotto.

Q: If you say that no-one can predict a win, how does your system work then?

Ken: The system works mainly by eliminating the millions of number combinations that won’t win. For example, you’ll never see 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 in a winning draw… that is pretty unlikely. And there are countless other losing combinations too. My Silver Lotto System identifies these, leaving the potential winning combinations. Easy–once you know how!

Q. How is the Silver Lotto System different from other systems out there, like Wheeling?

Ken: Wheeling just gives a variety of number combinations. It doesn’t make any distinction between good and bad number combinations, so most times you are wasting your money on the many poor number selections in them. With the Silver Lotto System, EVERY line has the best number combination you can find, which hugely increases the chances of winning. That makes it different from almost every other system I’ve studied. (And if you find a system that works like the Silver Lotto System, you can bet your bottom dollar that it was adapted from mine!)

Q: OK, that sounds good. But has anyone won with your system?

Ken: Yes indeed, many people. An Australian guy won AU$$3.2 million. Another won $281,183.09. And several round the world have won prizes of $100,000.00. Another won $70,634.60 on the Canada 6/49. Many people around the globe have covered their costs, and won smaller amounts up to $50,000.00. One of the main advantages with my system is that you can be winning moderate amounts WHILE you are waiting for the Big Win to come along–as it eventually will.

Q: Is waiting part of your system? Why can’t we get the main prize straight off?

Ken: What many folks don’t realize is that when a system like mine can’t predict a winning game, the next best thing is to ‘wait in line’ for your winning turn. So what you’re doing here is still winning while you’re waiting for the big one. The Silver Lotto System puts you in the win line, right up near the top of the queue. When the right combination of winning figures strikes – you will have the correct number combination to win it. The best thing about my system is that you don’t have to wait several thousand years – as one academic predicted for other systems. It could be just a small number of games before the right combination is hit.

Q: So we might have to be patient? That’s hard to do!

Ken: Many people don’t have the patience to keep going, even when the draws go against them, but the real winners will persist. There’s a story I read in a book about the first British Camelot lottery. Two partners in a double glazing window business took out over a thousand pounds a week (that’s about US$1400) to play the game. They were almost broke at the 3 month mark, but – luckily for them then – they won several million pounds! This is an extreme example of how persistence pays off.

Q: I was going to bring that up, Ken. Is there another way we can win lotto quicker with your system?

Ken: Sure. Just increase the number of tickets you play. For example, when I play in my country, I buy 60-120 lines. My chance of winning is very much less if I were only able to take out 2 lines a game.

Q: Are you saying you’ve got to spend a fortune each week then?

Ken: Definitely not. Every single line using the Silver Lotto System gives you a better chance than any other system I know. But the more lines you have in each game, the higher your chances become. So if you can’t afford many lines each week, you should maybe wait a month and play then what you were going to spend each week. But I emphasis to everybody playing any lotto game at all–make sure it is money you can afford to lose. Because it might take weeks before you make it back or get a major win.

Q: From your website and what you’re saying here, you sure don’t sound like someone trying to sell your system. You’ve covered the downside of playing too.

Ken: Sure. Most other systems out there are highly optimistic about you winning, but they’re mainly based on guesswork and wrongly-calculated maths. I believe mine is the first representation of what you can and can’t do with a system.

Q: Thanks for your time here. Is there a last word you want to say?

Ken: Yes, I’d like to say to all future Silver Lotto System owners this… take a good look at my system. Don’t spend your last cent on playing. And above all, keep going – - even when your wins are small or take a while to come through. You WILL eventually triumph!

Q: Thanks! Readers can see Ken’s Silver Lotto System website here: Silver Lotto System

What’s stopping you from winning the lottery right now?

If you’re like me, and most other lotto or lottery players, you probably believe that the odds are stacked against you.

What if I showed you a little-known system I’ve found that will change your thinking – a simple system which has broken all winning records for the last 20 years:

- Where many players get up to a 98% winning rate… that’s a prize in almost every game they play.

- That has hundreds of winning testimonials on their website.

- Where you only have to fill in your tickets once, and never have to worry about filling them out again.

- Where even if millions of others play, they’ll never be competition for you.

And it gets better…

This system is unique.

The way it works is different to every other lottery system on the planet.

That’s why it’s so successful, because it uses a secret loophole which generates wins like crazy.

Right now they are offering only a small number of copies at a reduced price in order to keep down the number of people who win. That means fewer winners to share the prizes.

Then they’ll put the price back up again to reduce the demand.

Take a look:

But you’ll need to be quick.

There are only a few copies left:

–THE ABSORPTION STAKING PLAN – “How to withstand up to 30 straight losses, yet have enough money to continue betting from the same betting bank!”

—By Mohammed Ali the Betting Scientist

THE PEAKING RACING SYSTEM

The most basic information supplied at any horseracing meeting in the world will be all the horse’s form. Form is simply the result of the 3 to 4 races the horse ran.

For Example:

0X624 Joyjoy

The horse Joyjoy above came fourth at its last race, second at its second last race, sixth at its third last race, had a break from racing (as indicated by X) and came either 10 or above just before it took the break.

The Codes Explained, Briefly:
Read the numbers and letters from right to left, with the first number or letter on the right being the result of the latest race and second number or letter on right being the result of the second most recent race, etc…

X – Means ‘Spell’ and simply means the horse took a break from racing
O – Means the horse came 10 or above in the race
F – Means the jockey fell in the race
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 & 9 – Represents the position the horse finished the race

THE SYSTEM
Now that we know how to read form, let’s plunge into discovering this system

Look for horses that are peaking with form. We do this by glancing through the latest three starts a horse has had.

Here’s what we are looking for…
The horse must have come second and third in its last two starts therefore the last two form should look like this

32 Horse’s name

For its third last start the horse must have come either 4,5,6,7,8 or 9. We don’t care what it came for its fourth start and onwards.

So we are looking for horses that have their last three starts looking like this:

432 or 532 or 632 or 732 or 832 or 932

Horses with the above form are simply peaking and will run very well. However there are many other variables that affect the outcome of a race so do not expect to win or place every time. But… if I were to use only form to select winners, this is exactly what I’d use. In fact if you glance through any form guide, you’ll see a number of horses with form that’s 321. These horses have already peaked and won but now will face tougher competition because of the recent win. This is why you have to get them just before they win i.e. when the last two digits of the form are 32.

I have recently received feedback from some of my clients reporting to have used variations of the system described here with exceptional results. They bet on horses with improving form over the last three starts, irrespective of whether the latest two numbers are 3 & 2. Example: 642, 863, 752, etc…How you end up using my system is entirely up to you! I would suggest you experiment with the various combinations and stick to the one that works best for you.

By the way…you can use this system for gallops/flats, jumping events, harness racing and also greyhound racing. I recommend you use the same amount to bet for a win and place (Eachway Betting) so you collect something if the horse or dog comes in first, second or third.

Now just by using this simple betting plan you’ll be way ahead of the majority of the punters out there…but wait, there still more! Next I’m going to show one of the secrets that professional punters use to grow their betting bank into thousands of dollars, QUICKLY!

THE ABSORPTION STAKING PLAN

The first thing you need to do before placing a single bet is to establish a betting bank. Your betting bank has to be self-sustaining and once established you cannot add any more of your ‘own’ money to it. Now, use 5% of the bank to bet for a win and 5% for a place/show for all your betting from now on. Reinvest all your profits back into the bank and let it absorb the losses as well.

So whether your bank increases or decreases in size, your bets remain in proportion all the time – 5% for a win and 5% for a place/show.

Example:
Betting Bank $100: Win bet $5 Place Bet $5

OR

Betting Bank $75: Win bet $3.75 Place bet $3.75 (Round them off to nearest whole number if need be)

How You Can Sustain 30 Straight Losses
Even though this Peaking Racing System is no where as robust as my main selection system “How to ‘Place Bet’ on Favorites for a Living”, you still shouldn’t get 9 straight losses in a row – let alone 30! However the staking plan I have recommended that you use can withstand up to 30 straight losses without totally breaking the bank. A betting bank of $100 will be $4.18 after the 30th loss – not completely wiped out. The greatest thing about this staking plan is that it magically minimizes the impact of losses while capitalizing tremendously on winnings. Try it and see for yourself!

************************************************************
READ ABOUT A SIMPLE HORSE BETTING STRATEGY THAT SAFELY TURNS $15 INTO $157.28 IN ONE AFTERNOON!

Alexander Booth made $543 from $25 within 3 days –George Evans made $1,400 in 17 days betting very conservatively –Kiri Vanase makes $110 every week and he doesn’t even have horseracing in his country!

And now you can steal, duplicate and shamelessly profit from the exact same system they’re using!

Sports Betting Basics
If you’ve ever wanted to place a bet on a sporting event, but were overwhelmed by all the talk of odds, point spreads, bookies, and sportsbooks, relax. We’ll have you ready to join the action in no time. While at first glance the world of sports betting can seem to be a complex one, it’s not nearly as daunting as it may first appear.

Sports gambling has been around since the beginning of the United States, and the colonists were known to have wagered on fighting, horse racing, and even cockfighting. Gambling was a long-time tradition in England and it was only natural the colonists would bring their love of gambling across the ocean with them.

In the 1800s, horse racing was the sport of choice among gamblers, with boxing also popular, but as the popularity of baseball increased in the later part of the century, so did baseball betting, and the popularity of wagering on the sport was brought to the forefront during the 1919 World Series, which will live on in infamy as the Black Sox Scandal.

College sports, such as football and basketball, began to catch the public eye in the early stages of the 20th century, and over time, those two sports soon rivaled baseball as popular betting activities. For a number of years, football and basketball bets were placed using odds, a practice that still takes place today and is known as betting with the money line.

The Advent of the Point Spread
The only problem with the money line is that a number of the college football and basketball games were mismatches and all of the gamblers would be betting on the same team, which is not what the bookmakers want. In the 1940s, the bookmakers changed the face of sports gambling forever when they came out with the point spread.

Simply stated, the point spread is a handicap placed on the expected winner of a football or basketball game in points. If the Lakers are expected to roll past the Clippers, the point spread on the game could be as high as 20 points. Basically, that means 20 points are subtracted from the Lakers score or added to the Clippers score for betting purposes. If a gambler places a bet on the Lakers, they must win by 21 or more points for the gambler to win their bet. Those placing bets on the Clippers will win if the Clippers win the game or lose by 19 points of less.

The primary purpose of the point spread was to help the bookmakers balance their books. Instead of the vast majority of gamblers all betting on the same team, there were more bets placed on both teams. Because the bookmakers make the bettor risk $11 to win $10, balanced action will guarantee the bookmaker a profit regardless of which team wins the game.

The television explosion of the 1950s was another boost for bookies, as sports and television was a perfect match. People soon found out that a wager on a game would add to the excitement of watching the game and sports gambling has been growing at a steady rate every year.
The Start of Totals
Bookmakers aren’t dumb and they quickly realized the more betting opportunities they had for the public, the more wagers the public would make. That thinking led to the creation of totals. Totals, or over/unders, is a betting proposition where gamblers wager on the combined final score, without any regard to the winner of the game.

Betting against the point spread, with the money line, or on totals are the three most popular forms or sports betting that take place today. In recent years, bookmakers have continued to come out with additional betting opportunities, such as parlays and teasers.

To be a truly great Texas Hold ‘Em Poker player, you need to be able to read your opponents, ascertaining when they are bluffing and then they really have a solid hand. But learning some basic strategies and general rules will go a long way toward making sure you can at least hold your own in a friendly game.

Two Things to Always Remember

It may seem silly to be reminded of the following fundamental facts, but it’s surprising how often players get swept up in the excitement of the game and forget the basics.

So, always remember these two things:

1. The two cards you hold are the only cards that set you apart from the other players and give you the chance to win.

2. All of the face-up cards are community cards, shared by you and every other player. It’s vital that you focus on what those cards could mean to someone else at least as much as you focus on what they mean to you. In particular, keep your eyes open for your opponents’ straight and flush possibilities.

Evaluating Your Cards

Usually, the first decision you make in a hand of Texas Hold ‘Em Poker happens with your only knowledge being what your two cards are.

When you look at your cards, be careful not to reveal anything with your reaction — facial or otherwise. Taking a sharp breath, no matter how quietly you do it, can tell a wily opponent all he needs to know to have an advantage over you. Keyword: emotionless.

How do you know if your cards are good?

It depends in part on how many players are in the game, but a general rule is that you should seriously consider folding before the flop if you have two non-pair cards, both less than 10. A more conservative player might fold if just one of the cards is less than 10; a more aggressive player might stay in with, for example, an 8 and 9 of the same suit (because those cards give you decent possibilities for a straight or a flush).

If the big blind (a forced bet designed to ensure that every hand has a pot) is low enough, it may be worthwhile to pay in so that you can see the flop even if you don’t have particularly strong cards in your hand. But don’t abuse this exception to the rule — it can get you into trouble more quickly than you imagine.

A lot of Texas Hold ‘Em strategy is based on the cards in your hand. You must be willing to suffer through a series of poor hands (e.g. 5-8, 2-6, 4-9) without getting impatient. The good hands will come, eventually, and you’ll be in better position to take advantage of them if you don’t waste your chips trying to get something out of nothing.

The Flop

After seeing the flop, don’t be afraid to cut your losses. A common mistake made by novices is to decide, “I’m already in this hand, so I might as well play it out.” Wrong.

With seven players at a table, two pair or better will generally be the winning hand. If you don’t have the high pair after the flop (e.g. if the flop is K-9-5, the high pair would be two Ks), and you’re not in good position for a straight or a flush, you should probably get out of the hand.

However, remember that as the number of players goes down, so does the potential of a strong hand — so if you’re at a table with just two other players, it could pay off to be more aggressive.

If you’re first to bet after the flop, don’t be afraid to check. This can work to your advantage in two ways. First, if your hand is on the weak side, you might be able to see one more card without having to put more into the pot. Second, if your hand is strong, you could convince an opponent or two that it’s weaker than it really is.

Fourth Street and Fifth Street

Also know as The Turn and The River, respectively, the fourth and fifth community cards give you two more chances to either get out of the pot before you lose even more money — or increase your winnings.

At this point, it’s likely there will only be one or two other players still in the pot with you. The best advice here is to be cautious. After fourth street, don’t stay in the pot hoping for a straight or flush, unless you can do so on a check (that is, without putting more chips into the pot). Although there will be times when you would have drawn the straight or flush, they will be outweighed by the times you wouldn’t.

The bottom line is this: Don’t allow yourself to get sucked in too far with a weak hand.

That said, there is a point where the investment you’ve already made virtually dictates that you hang in there. It’s useful to measure this in terms of percentage of your chips. For example, if you’ve already committed 40% of your chips to the pot, another 5% isn’t that much. This is a gray area, so once again the best advice is to be cautious.

Good luck, and have fun!

Poker is a game of five card hands dealt from a 52 card deck of standard playing cards. All poker hands consist of exactly five cards. Most poker games, like seven card stud for example, give the players more than five cards to select from, but the final winning result goes to the one with the best five card poker hand. In the popular stud poker games, the players are all dealt one card at a time or in small groups and they bet money or something each time they get more cards. They bet that they will end up with the best hand. The players that don’t want to bet on their hands any longer can “fold” their hands, get out of the contest and forfeit all the bets they have made to that point. At the end, the player the best poker hand, wins all the bets. . . In draw poker the players bet, then replace the cards they don’t like with new ones from the dealer and then bet again.

The best hand is determined by the Poker Hand Value Ratings chart at the left.

These lottery basics are for those brand new to lotto gambling and who want to know what the lottery is all about. I’ve tried to inform you about using good sense when playing the lottery, but now that you’ve made your decision to play, I want you to have the basic facts. This page is going to cover the basic games you’ll find, while giving the essential information about the big multi-state lotteries.

Scratch-Off Tickets

Scratch-off games are those lottery tickets you see at the convenience store counter that come in the big transparent boxed. Each lotto company has up to a dozen of these promotions going at once. You buy the ticket, scratch off to see if you win, and trade in the winning tickets at the very counter you bought the tickets (or other participating venues). These tickets win more often than a state lottery ticket, but the payouts are a lot lower.

Pull-Tab Lottery Games

Pull-tab games require you to break open a tab on the back of the card and match the number you find on the front of the ticket. Pull-tab games seem to have an endless number of names, depend on the state or region you’re buying the tickets in. Common names for pull-tab lottery tickets are break-opens, instant bingo, pickle cards, Nevada tickets, lucky 7s, popp-opens, bowl games, and cherry bells.

State Lottery Games

Many states offer their own state lottery game where you can enter a number of games, including big money games and small money games. States that operate individual lotteries are Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington (state), West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

You’ll usually see the state lottery identified as something like “(fill in the blank) Lotto”. Other common games include Pick 3, Pick 4, Daily 4, Cash Five, and a host of scratchoffs. States have their own games no others do, such as the Texas Two-Step offered by Lotto Texas.

Besides the local games offered, most states in the USA offer citizens the ability to buy tickets to enter the two big multi-state games: Mega Millions and Powerball.

Powerball Basics

Powerball is a large jackpot cash game. Drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday night at 10:59 Eastern Standard Time. Sales are cut off 59 minutes before the drawing. Six total balls are drawn, including 5 white balls and 1 red ball. The white balls are numbered 1 through 59, while the red ball (the Powerball) is numbered 1 through 39.

The odds of winning in Powerball are 1 in 35, though the odds of winning the big jackpot are more like 1 in 190 million. To win the smaller jackpot, you have to match all five white balls. To win the grand prize, you’ll need to match your numbers with all six numbers drawn. The big jackpot ranges into the millions, sometimes even the tens of millions (over $100 million occasionally). You can choose to take a lump sum payout or an annuity payed out over 30 payments (29 years time).

Powerball is a multi-state lottery, with tickets being sold in 42 states. Only California, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Hawaii, Alaska, Mississippi, and Alabama do not take part of the Powerball drawings. The District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands are members of the Powerball lottery. It costs $1.00 to buy a Powerball ticket.

Mega Millions Basics

The Mega Millions drawing has two sets of balls: five are drawn from the numbers 1 through 56, while an additional ball is drawn from the number 1 through 46. You can fill out your own ticket or choose the “easy pick” or “quick pick” option. Drawings are held on Tuesday and Friday every week at 11:00 pm Eastern Standard Time. A lottery ticket costs $1, but you can add a megaplier to multiply your winnings by 2-4 times by paying an additional $1.

The odds of winning the big jackpot on the Mega Millions lottery is about 1 in 175 million. The payouts may or may not be more than on the Powerball, but the payouts are in the millions and usually in the high tens of millions. Mega Millions still holds the record for the highest jackpot payout ever, with over $300 million paid on one win. Like the Powerball Lottery, if no one wins the jackpot, then the prize rolls over to the next drawing, so it continues to increase until someone wins.

Again, 42 different US states take part in the Mega Millions Lottery. The only states which do not participate are Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada, Alaska, and Hawaii. Once again, Washington DC and the Virgin Islands offer the Mega Millions lottery.
